Every day, 10,000 Americans turn 65 years old, and every day, they’re redefining what it means to grow older. At GreatCall, we truly believe that technology is transforming the way Americans age, and have seen its positive impact first-hand. As a company that creates products and services that work together to allow older adults to stay safe, connected and healthy, stories of older adults inspire us every day.
To that end, we recently challenged documentary filmmakers to tell a story to start a conversation about what growing older means in our current culture, and maybe even how technology is impacting that journey. Here is filmmaker Istvan Lettang’s thoughts on his take on this subject.
Comic Book Artist in a Digital Age
“I recently had an opportunity to work with Andrew Dawe-Collins on a filmset Devil’s Night: Dawn of the Nain Rouge. Where he was one of the main supporting actors. As a cinematographer, I always spend a lot of time talking to actors during our downtimes. Andrew brought his comic book drawings and his iPad to the set and showed me his art work. He told me about his past and how he ended up being a comic book artist. When he showed me how he used his iPad for drawings, our conversation started about how technology changed and made everything faster and better. In a short period of time, technology has had a big role in graphics and in the film industry. Learning new technology makes him feel young and more productive. Technology is not something to fear, it is something to look forward to. With the new technology, he is planning to enjoy every single day in his lifetime.”
