What happens when a group of older adults decide to fight back against a diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease? Recently, we visited a unique class at a local boxing gym in San Diego to find out. Named Rock Steady Boxing, this group of fighters are taking “active aging” to a whole new level. We sat down with some of the Rock Steady Boxing members, as well as the class owner and head coach, Brady Rein, to learn more about their class and their fight. Watch to see how this group of older adults with Parkinson’s Disease, who enthusiastically refer to themselves as the “Brady Bunch,” are fighting back for control of their lives with the help of their inspirational coach.
At GreatCall, we design connected products and services to help older adults stay safe, independent, and healthy. As we work to better support our customers in aging the way they want to, we are inspired by stories of active aging every day. We are always on the lookout for unique examples of older adults creating a sense of community and empowering themselves to live their best lives.
